The safest route would be to use something that is already constructed and engineered… as below. By using the Hot Plate built to the correct impedance, you could actually run it without a speaker cab, even.
It is possible to build a setup that will allow you to run a tube amp in conjunction with a speaker box and have a non-emulated line out, yes. It is even possible to build a resistive load that has a non-emulated line out that would eliminate the need for a speaker box entirely (as THD has done with the Hot Plate).
For the beginner, building something that will attenuate and split off a line-level signal while still requiring a speaker cab to be plugged in is a safer project than one that replaces the speaker entirely, but I want to emphasize that you should research a lot more thoroughly before you go any further.
The link that page gave states very clearly that the circuit discussed is for voltage dividers, not current! If you simply copy this circuit over to your particular amplifier, you run the very real risk of blowing whatever you connect it to…. the 10:1 ratio might not be enough! Plus I have a feeling that the output impedance is going to be wrong, too…
Look, all I’m saying is that 1) yes it’s possible 2) research it more thoroughly before you do it 3) consider buying something like the Hot Plate that will not only do the job, but do it extremely well and very safely.
